apple: Apple iPhone 14 Pro models may get always-on display

Apple iPhone 14 Pro models will reportedly have better screen refresh rate which will help the devices to get an always-on display. As per display analyst Ross Young, Apple may be able to drop down the minimum refresh rate in iPhone 14 Pro models to 1Hz which will help when viewing static images or when the smartphones are inactive.
For those who are unaware, Apple introduced the ProMotion display with iPhone 13 Pro models. The displays use LTPO panel technology that help to get variable refresh rates, allowing the smartphones to change the frame rates as per user’s requirement. Although this technology helps to get the best out of the display while preserving the battery life, it only changes the refresh rates between 10Hz and 120Hz. On the other hand, the LPTO panels used by other manufacturers such as Samsung and Oppo can drop to as low as 1Hz.
Currently there are not many reports that back Young’s prediction, but that does not mean that the company won’t surprise us.
Apple iPhone 14 Pro series is rumoured to have 4 smartphones – iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max. As per previous Tweets by Ross Young, Apple iPhone 14 Pro models will have the punch-hole cutout to house the front camera and the pill-shaped cutout will feature an infrared camera for Face ID.
He also suggested that we may not be able to see an under display infrared camera until 2023 or 2024. This means that we can not expect the under display Face ID feature until iPhone 15 Pro. Previously, the smartphones were rumoured to only have a punch-hole cutout as seen on the Samsung Galaxy series devices.
As per previous reports the smartphones will feature triple rear camera setup with a 48MP wide lens, 12MP ultra wide and telephoto lenses. Analyst Jeff Pu in a research note with Haitong International Securities predicts that the Apple iPhone 14 Pro models will feature 8GB of RAM. For context, the iPhone 13 Pro models are equipped with 6GB of RAM. Although the iPhone 13 series devices are available with a base storage option of 128GB, the analyst believes that the iPhone 14 series devices will have a base storage capacity of 64GB.
