Apple has reportedly scrapped plans to release a new M1 Pro Mac mini version of the Mac mini, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who suggests Apple had intended to launch the new machine at the end of 2021 or at the start of 2022, however, the new version has allegedly been cancelled ahead of a more substantial upgrade in the future.

According to Gurman, Apple is now focusing on releasing a new Mac mini powered by M2 and “M2 Pro” chips, with the new machine unlikely to feature any drastic new redesign as previously rumored by Jon Prosser, who suggested the machine could feature a “plexiglass-like” top and aluminium enclosure with two-tone color options, like the M1 iMac.
