Apple CEO Tim Cook to attend Trump’s inauguration next week

Earlier this month, Apple CEO Tim Cook donated $1 million to President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration. Now, Bloomberg reports that Cook is set to attend Trump’s inauguration next week.

In addition to Cook, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos will attend Trump’s inauguration next week. Telsa’s Elon Musk will also (unsurprisingly) be in attendance. The president-elect has also met privately with a number of executives at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, including Cook.

Many big tech companies, including Meta, Amazon, Microsoft, and Google, have donated to Trump’s inauguration. Of note is that Tim Cook’s donation is being made personally to Trump’s inauguration fund. Apple as a company has not donated.

Bloomberg says that Trump’s inauguration fund has raised $200 million, “shattering previous records.” As John Gruber noted last week, Apple gave $43,200 to Biden’s inauguration fund, while Tim Cook gave nothing.

  • Microsoft gave $500,000.
  • Google gave $337,500.
  • Amazon gave $326,509.85.
  • Apple gave $43,200; Tim Cook gave nothing.
  • Neither Facebook (pre-name-change) nor Zuckerberg gave a cent.

Inauguration Day is on January 20 in Washington, D.C and the event kicks off at 12 p.m. ET.
