The suspense is finally over for WSU Cougars and UW Huskies fans: the 2022 Apple Cup officially has a start time.
The annual rivalry clash, which is set this year to take place at Wazzu’s Martin Stadium in Pullman, gets a prime kickoff time of 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26. This also marks the series’ return to a Saturday game after a long period of serving as a Friday after Thanksgiving tradition.
Radio coverage of the game will be carried in the Puget Sound area by Seattle Sports 710 AM beginning with the pregame show at 5:30 p.m. two hours before kickoff. Streaming on the Seattle Sports app will be available within 100 miles of Seattle. Listeners outside of the area can find their nearest affiliate of the WSU Radio Network at this link.
ESPN will carry the television broadcast.
While every Apple Cup carries a lot of meaning, this will be one of the more important ones.
The 9-2 Huskies, who were ranked No. 15 in the latest Associated Press poll prior to their 54-7 blowout win over Arizona on Saturday night, are 6-2 in Pac-12 play and still have a chance to sneak into the conference title game. The 7-4 Cougars, meanwhile, took down Arizona in the desert on Saturday, and the program is coming off its first Apple Cup win after seven straight losses in the series. The Cougs also have a chance to both beat the Dawgs for the first time in Pullman since 2012 and win back-to-back Apple Cups for the first time since 2008.
This will be the first Apple Cup for UW Huskies head coach Kalen DeBoer and the second for WSU Cougars mentor Jake Dickert, whose win over the Huskies in Montlake last year led Washington State to promote him from interim head coach to the full-time job.
According to the Weather.com 10-day forecast for Pullman, conditions for next Saturday will be cold and mostly cloudy, with a high temperature of 46 degrees and low of 33.
