Apple debuts RC for tvOS 18.5, visionOS 2.5, and more

Apple has released a variety of new software updates for beta testers, including RC versions of tvOS 18.5, visionOS 2.5, and more.

Here’s what to expect from new beta releases

Next month, Apple will unveil major new software versions at WWDC, such as iOS 19, iPadOS 19, macOS 16, and more.

Before then, though, the company plans to ship the next updates for its existing software lineup.

Currently the following updates are getting ready to arrive for users:

  • iOS 18.5
  • iPadOS 18.5
  • macOS Sequoia 15.5
  • watchOS 11.5
  • tvOS 18.5
  • visionOS 2.5
  • HomePod 18.5

Apple has been beta testing these updates since early April.

Some beta cycles can stretch on for a while, but this latest array of updates is very minor in scope.

New features and changes have been hard to find, leaving the major additions for iOS 19 and more.

watchOS 11.5 will include this year’s new Pride watch face. But otherwise, user-facing feature changes have been scarce for it and the updates to tvOS and visionOS.

As RC betas, Apple hopes these exact software versions will be able to ship widely to all users. Assuming no critical bugs pop up, we should see those public launches happen by mid-May.
