Apple Fights College’s Bid to Revive $506 Million Patent Lawsuit


    The University of Wisconsin-Madison’s licensing unit is trying to resurrect its half-billion-dollar dispute with Apple Inc. over microprocessors, prodding a federal judge to let it pursue patent infringement claims in two related lawsuits based on a request it first made three years ago.

    Apple, in turn, said in a court filing this week that a hearing on Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation’s request isn’t necessary because an appeals court ruling that tossed a $506 million judgment should apply to what remains of the eight-year-old dispute.
