The new technology could possibly change the sensitivity of the on-screen buttons to reduce the chances of accidental touch inputs from raindrops. In addition, as part of the plan, the iPhone could adjust the pressure sensitivity of its display to register touch inputs only when a certain amount of pressure is applied.
The new patent also suggests that iPhone could even come with an underwater mode, a mode that could offer a simpler interface with bigger buttons to make it easier to use underwater. Going a step further, the new patent even suggests that users could use the underwater mode to take photos and record videos even when the iPhone is completely submerged.
The iPhone display will also be able to show the phone’s current depth, allowing the user to keep it inside the limitations of its water-resistance properties.
Apple has been working on new technologies and received lot of new patents, not all many patents result in products. However, it will be interesting to see whether these new technologies will make their way into future iPhones.
