Apple Inc.‘s AAPL seemingly abandoned “Magic Charger” has reemerged on Twitter. Over the past few days, images of an unreleased MagSafe charging accessory have surfaced online.
What Happened: A Twitter user shared the images of the accessory called “Apple Magic Charger.” The images indicate that the iPhone maker had, at some point, considered releasing a metal stand with an integrated MagSafe charger, reported The Verge.
The product has a thick aluminum base with a circular cutout for the MagSafe puck. It also has a rubberized layer at the bottom to prevent the Magic Charger from moving around, along with an attached USB-C cable.

From the visuals, it appears that the Magic Charger had an obvious flaw — it could only hold an iPhone in landscape orientation, said the report. It may have been possible that Apple thought the Magic Charger’s landscape-only standing position was impractical, added the report.
Apple recently said that they’ll comply with the EU mandate on USB-C ports. However, in a video, tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee said that the Cupertino-based company might not be jumping towards USB Type-C but MagSafe — the no-port technology.
