Model identifier references to three new Mac Studio devices have reportedly been found within unspecified Apple code, most likely macOS.
Now, however, a developer has spotted specific references to as-yet unreleased Mac Studio models.
Mac14,5
Mac14,6
Mac14,8— Pierre Blazquez (@pierre_blzqz) June 30, 2022
Developer Pierre Blazquez will not identify which Apple code the references were found in. So it’s not clear how he can be certain that that the three — Mac14,5; Mac14,6; and Mac14,8 — are Mac Studio models.
The current Mac Studio comes in two forms. The M1 Max edition is known internally as Mac13,1. The M1 Ultra edition is Mac13,2.
“Identifiers have been extracted from a file archived in a publicly available software bundle,” says Blazquez. “No UI resources or anything actually juicy (wouldn’t have tweeted otherwise).”
Blazquez stresses that this is information from publicly-downloadable software and is not in any way claimed to be an insider leak.
“Fun fact: the software bundle has been online for months,” continues Blazquez, “others have downloaded it way before me.”
There have been no rumors about Mac Studio updates yet. Apple has publicly said that a new Mac Pro is coming, and otherwise the only other high-end Mac being rumored is a potential iMac Pro replacement.
