We’ve today been given a preview of the gorgeous new Apple Miami Worldcenter store ahead of its opening on Friday morning.

The company has highlighted the store’s “biophilic” design, environmental credentials, accessibility features, and multicultural Latin American influence …

Apple Miami Worldcenter store

We first learned of plans for the store back in 2023.

According to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple is planning to open additional stores in the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, the Middle East, the United States, and Canada over the next four years […] In the United States, Apple is reportedly planning new stores in locations [which include] Miami Worldcenter.

At that time it was expected to open in August 2024.

It was officially announced earlier this month with the tagline “naturally inspiring” and nature-themed wallpaper.

Our brand-new store in downtown Miami is opening soon. Get ready to discover an oasis in the heart of the city, where nature thrives and creativity flourishes. We can’t wait to see what blooms in you.

Biophilic design & environmental creds

Apple has today shared a few photos, and a video clip showing the “biophilic” design – a term used to describe interaction or close association with nature. In architecture, it refers to incorporating natural elements like vegetation, wood, and water, as well as design elements which mimic those found in nature.

Apple Miami Worldcenter also features a biophilic design that helps connect customers to the beautiful green spaces surrounding the store. Upon entry, customers and the local community are welcomed by the grounds blooming with plants and flora inspired by the multicultural Latin American influence of Miami […]

Created from the ground up to reflect Apple’s values, Apple Miami Worldcenter is built with the environment in mind using a regionally sourced mass timber structure and other low-carbon materials, which significantly reduced the carbon intensity of its construction. Like all Apple facilities, Apple Miami Worldcenter’s operations run on 100 percent renewable energy and are carbon neutral.

Accessibility at the heart of the design

Apple also says that accessibility was a key driver for some of the design elements.

As part of Apple’s commitment to accessibility, the new store is centered on universal design principles and offers varied table and seating heights for product discovery and support, as well as access routes that give wheelchair users more space to navigate. For shoppers who use hearing aids, the store offers a portable hearing loop that can be used anywhere. And at the Today at Apple table, an assistive listening loop gives them the chance to tune in to the session, offering a more accessible customer experience.

The company says the store offers the first dedicated Apple Pickup area in Miami, allowing customers to order online and then collect in store. This can be a preferred option for those who can’t be sure to be home when expensive products are delivered.

Opens on Friday

Apple says the store has a team of more than 150 people, and will open its doors at 10am on Friday, January 24.
