On Thursday Patently Apple posted an IP report titled ” Apple Wasted no time in filing for the iPhone 14 Pro Trademark ‘Dynamic Island’ in Hong Kong. Late on Friday, the Hong Kong Patent and Trademark Office published an additional two trademark filings from Apple covering ‘Apple Watch Ultra’ and the ‘A16 Bionic.’
Trademark Filing for: Apple Watch Ultra
During Apple’s “Far Out” Event on Wednesday they introduced an all-new Apple Watch category branded “Apple Watch Ultra,” which brings a new bold design and a wide range of features built for endurance, exploration, and adventure. Apple filed for the “Apple Watch Ultra” trademark in Hong Kong yesterday under number 306056208 under International Classes 9 and 14. Apple noted that their (secret) priority filing was made in Liechtenstein in May 2022.
International Class 9 covers: “Computers; computer hardware; wearable computer hardware; handheld computers; telecommunications apparatus and instruments; wireless communication devices for the transmission of voice, data, images, audio, video, and multimedia content; network communication apparatus; wearable digital electronic devices capable of providing access to the internet, for sending, receiving and storing of telephone calls, electronic mail, and other digital data; smart watches; wearable activity trackers; pressure indicators; pressure measuring apparatus; smart watches; radio transmitters and receivers; global positioning systems (GPS devices); straps and lanyards for computers; electronic voice command and recognition apparatus for controlling the operations of consumer electronics devices and residential systems; personal digital assistants; alarms, alarm sensors, and alarm monitoring systems; smoke and carbon monoxide detectors,” and more.

International Class 9 for “A16 Bionic” covers “Computer hardware; integrated circuits; and computer chips.”
It should be noted that international trademark classes that Apple files their trademarks under are important as the trademark registration will only protect those classes that have been identified in their original application. In a legal battle, the classes filed for originally could make or break a legal case.
