Apple Quickly Files for ‘A16 Bionic’ and ‘Apple Watch Ultra’ Trademarks in Hong Kong


 

On Thursday Patently Apple posted an IP report titled ” Apple Wasted no time in filing for the iPhone 14 Pro Trademark ‘Dynamic Island’ in Hong Kong. Late on Friday, the Hong Kong Patent and Trademark Office published an additional two trademark filings from Apple covering ‘Apple Watch Ultra’ and the ‘A16 Bionic.’  

 

Trademark Filing for: Apple Watch Ultra

 

During Apple’s “Far Out” Event on Wednesday they introduced an all-new Apple Watch category branded “Apple Watch Ultra,” which brings a new bold design and a wide range of features built for endurance, exploration, and adventure. Apple Watch Ultra introduces a 49mm titanium case and flat sapphire front crystal that reveals the biggest and brightest Apple Watch display yet. Apple filed for the “Apple Watch Ultra” trademark in Hong Kong yesterday under number 306056208 under International Classes 9 and 14. Apple noted that their (secret) priority filing was made in Liechtenstein in May 2022.

Apple filed for the “A16 Bionic” trademark in Hong Kong yesterday under number 306056046 under International Class 9. Apple noted that their (secret) priority filing was made in Liechtenstein in July 2022.

International Class 9 for “A16 Bionic” covers “Computer hardware; integrated circuits; and computer chips.”

 

It should be noted that international trademark classes that Apple files their trademarks under are important as the trademark registration will only protect those classes that have been identified in their original application. In a legal battle, the classes filed for originally could make or break a legal case.
