Apple releases beta 2 for watchOS 11.5, visionOS 2.5, and more

Apple has new betas ready for developers: beta 2 for watchOS 11.5, visionOS 2.5, tvOS 18.5, and more is now available for download.

No public beta yet as developer beta 2 debuts

Normally, when Apple tests beta software it follows a fairly predictable release pattern: developers get software one day, then public beta users follow a day later. These two groups then tend to get new updates on the same day when a wide launch draws near.

So far though, Apple hasn’t released public betas for any of its upcoming releases.

Beta 1 of tvOS 18.5, watchOS 11.5, HomePod 18.5, and more arrived in early April.

And now, developer beta 2 is here before any public betas have debuted.

It’s unclear the reason for the delay, other than perhaps Apple discovering that its first betas contained more bugs than is deemed acceptable for a public beta version.

In any case, these software versions so far are very light on visible changes.

So far even iOS 18.5 has little new worth mentioning, and iPhone software tends to get the biggest new features.

We’ll keep you posted on any changes we discover in beta 2 for visionOS 2.5, watchOS 11.5, and more. But it’s very possible these updates will focus primarily on bug fixes ahead of bigger changes at WWDC in June.

Have you installed beta 2 of any of these updates, and noticed changes? Let us know what they are via the comments.
