Apple has released visionOS 2.2 beta 4 for developers. The new software version brings us closer to the expected RC and wide launch soon. Here’s what to expect from the latest beta.
Highlights of visionOS 2.2 and today’s beta
Today’s new beta brings the latest version of a big update for Vision Pro users.
The highlight of visionOS 2.2 is a variety of upgrades to Mac Virtual Display. These include:
- Wide display mode
- Ultrawide display mode
- Audio routing through the Vision Pro itself
- Higher display resolution
We’re expecting a public launch for the update in the next week or two. That means this is likely the final beta before the RC, and as such it’s unlikely to have any new features or changes.
Instead, the focus of beta 4 is on performance and stability, preparing the software for its wide launch soon.
Major software changes coming for other Apple platforms
visionOS aside, Apple’s main focus this software cycle has been on iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2. Those updates include major Apple Intelligence upgrades like Genmoji, ChatGPT integration, and Image Playground.
You can download today’s beta by visiting the Software Update sections on your Vision Pro, assuming you have a developer account and have opted into beta updates.
