It’s official: The Studio will return for a second season on Apple TV+. The renewal comes as the Hollywood satire wraps up its critically acclaimed first run, with just three episodes remaining before the season finale airs on May 21.
Apple announced the pickup in characteristically meta fashion, sharing an episode clip on social media that cleverly mirrors the show’s behind-the-scenes themes:
Premiering in late March, The Studio arrived just after Severance concluded its second season, helping Apple TV+ maintain momentum into the summer. Created by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the series stars Rogen as Matt Remick, a clueless yet confident new studio head navigating the absurdities of modern Hollywood. It’s been a standout performer in Apple’s growing comedy lineup.
This marks Rogen’s second Apple TV+ series to earn a sophomore season. His previous comedy Platonic, co-starring Rose Byrne, was also renewed after a strong debut last year with a second season coming this summer.
The decision to greenlight more of The Studio likely wasn’t a difficult one. The series blends fictional characters and over-the-top celebrity cameos to skewer everything from blockbuster reboots to prestige Oscar bait. There’s no shortage of material, and according to co-creator Alex Gregory, the writers are ready to dig deeper.
“I think we’d like to keep doing it indefinitely… Put it this way, I don’t think there are any plans for an end… I am hopeful [for a Season 2]. […] I think we might like to go overseas for something. I mean, there are all sorts of things to do, and there were full episodes written that got shelved in favor of other episodes. It’s, yeah, it is a business that has a lot of stories to tell, so we’re excited to see where we can take it.”
With the renewal now official, it sounds like the fictional Continental Studios may soon go global—while real-life Hollywood continues to provide an endless supply of storylines. Season two’s writing room might already have its next episode: navigating a president’s 100% tariff on foreign films.
