According to an internal document seen by The Information, Apple will set stricter regulations for its supplier partners in the future, in order to reduce the number of leaks about upcoming products.
Companies such as Foxconn and Pegatron will be urged to install more surveillance cameras and do comprehensive background checks on those who apply for jobs. Suppliers must also monitor the time taken to move sensitive components from one place to another, in order to ensure that no one has the opportunity to take photos.
Partners will not be permitted to collect biometric information from visiting Apple employees, but they will be free to use both facial and fingerprint scanning on their own factory employees.
Despite the new rules, it will be extremely difficult for Apple to completely put a stop to the leaks. There are large sums to be gained from revealing details about new iPhones and other Apple products.
