Apple to Allow Payment for Gas From Inside Cars

Apple‘s upcoming version of CarPlay will allow users to pay for gas from inside their cars.

Teased at the tech giant’s WWDC event last month, the updated feature is being built in partnership with energy company HF Sinclair, rolling out at gas stations across the United States. According to Reuters, the software will be updated this coming fall with iOS 16. HF Sinclair’s senior vice president of marketing shared: “We are excited by the idea that consumers could navigate to a Sinclair station and purchase fuel from their vehicle navigation screen.”

HF Sinclair operates over 1,600 gas stations in the country, marking a big step for Apple in the automotive category as it continues to develop a fully self-driving car.
