Directed by Rebecca Miller, this five-part series will explore the life and career of the legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese, featuring conversations with notable collaborators, including Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Steven Spielberg.
As reported by Deadline, Miller is obviously excited about the project:
I am so grateful to have been given the artistic freedom and access to create a cinematic portrait of one of our greatest living artists, Martin Scorsese. (…) His work and life are so vast and so compelling that the piece evolved from one to five parts over a five-year period; crafting this documentary alongside my longtime collaborators has been one of the defining experiences of my life as a filmmaker.
Interestingly, the new docuseries marks another milestone in Apple’s relationship with Scorsese, which began with his appearance in a 2012 Siri commercial.
In the following years, Scorsese would go on to release his Academy Award-nominated film Killers of the Flower Moon on Apple TV+ and make a cameo as himself in the platform’s excellent comedy series The Studio.
In addition to De Niro, DiCaprio, and Spielberg, Mr. Scorsese will also feature interviews with Scorsese himself, as well as Daniel Day-Lewis, Mick Jagger, Sharon Stone, Jodie Foster, Paul Shrader, Margot Robbie, Cate Blanchett, and Rodrigo Prieto, to name a few.
With Mr. Scorsese, Apple TV+ continues to highlight influential figures in the entertainment industry, offering an in-depth look at the lives of notable personalities such as Steve Martin, Michael J. Fox, and Selena Gomez.
As of yet, Mr. Scorsese doesn’t have a premiere date, with Apple mentioning only that it will be “coming soon to Apple TV+.”
Apple TV+ is available for $9.99 per month and features hit TV shows and movies like Ted Lasso, Severance, The Morning Show, Shrinking and Silo.
