Apple TV+ shares first trailer for Sidney Poitier documentary

The upcoming Apple TV+ documentary called “Sidney” gets its first trailer featuring multiple stars discussing the late Sidney Poitier’s influence on their career.

Sidney Poitier’s career as a Black actor in America is legendary, and after his death in January 2022, Apple revealed a documentary about his life had already been in production for over a year. Oprah Winfrey is a producer and is featured in the film.

The documentary honors Sidney Poitier and his legacy as an iconic actor, filmmaker and activist at the center of Hollywood and the Civil Rights Movement. It features interviews with Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Robert Redford, Lenny Kravitz, Barbra Streisand, Spike Lee and others.

Apple Original Films produced the documentary with Harpo Productions and Network Entertainment. Reginald Hudlin is the director. Poitier’s family is also involved in close collaboration with the project.

“Sidney” will debut on Apple TV+ on September 23 and in select theaters. Customers can subscribe to the streaming service for $4.99 per month or via any tier of the Apple One subscription bundle.
