Apple Vision Pro immersive video library management utility arrives for Mac

Apple’s new immersive video app is available for Mac and Vision Pro

Apple has just released a new utility for Mac users to help manage their immersive video libraries with direct connectivity to Apple Vision Pro.

the Apple Immersive Video Utility app continues Apple’s efforts to support its large-format immersive spatial video efforts. According to the app description, users can import and manage their immersive video files, create playlists, sort, organize, search, and share them as well.

Creators are able to inspect and modify the metadata on these videos. This includes the ability to modify, swap, and update package contents for post-production.

These local immersive videos files can then be streamed to one or multiple Apple Vision Pro headsets. That could include anything from a single person watching their own immersive videos or a studio previewing a short film to multiple viewers at once.

Average users won’t find much use for this app, at least not until Apple immersive videos become more commonplace. While anyone can download it, its primary use case will be for for professional production companies releasing Apple immersive content for Vision Pro.

Apple has continued to release more immersive videos for Vision Pro. Most recently was VIP: Yankee Stadium, a documentary into the famous ballpark.

Immersive video is Apple’s most impressive video content created for Apple Vision Pro. It’s 180 degree 8K 3D video with Spatial Audio and is larger than typical Spatial Video, like that captured with select iPhones.

The app, perhaps not coincidentally, was released during NAB 2025. The NAB Show, or the National Association of Broadcasters Show, is currently being held in Las Vegas from April 5 to April 9 and sees a number of announcements related to video production.

The new Apple app is available for free on the Mac App Store and the Vision Pro App Store.

To stream directly to Apple Vision Pro, the visionOS app is also needed. The Mac version requires an M1 series chip or newer.
