Apple is preparing for a “monumental” year for devices… in 2027. That’s according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman who says Apple is tooling-up to give it’s line-up a huge refresh.
In his weekly Power On newsletter, the reliable Apple reporter says the product “renaissance” is coming two years from now, but perhaps without much for fans to get excited about in the meantime.
The headline products when 2027 rolls around will be the first foldable iPhone that might arrive at the back end of 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 line-up. Gurman reports it’ll have a crease-free display with a durable titanium body.
Furthermore Apple is plotting a big splash for the 20th anniversary of the iPhone in 2027, which Gurman says will be a “a mostly glass, curved iPhone – without any cutouts in the display.” It’s already shaping up as the best iPhone ever.
Beyond the smartphones, Apple is looking to get further into smart glasses. The company is also planning a pair of specs to rival the Meta Ray-Ban range. These will be powered by the AI-based Visual Intelligence that is currently helping iPhone users learn more about their surroundings via the camera lens.
Those glasses will have their own cameras, speakers and microphones powering the experience, the Bloomberg reporter says. Speaking of cameras, the Apple Watch could finally get one – something that has been mooted in various guises from the start.
Apple will also launch its first robotics product, described by the reporter as a “tabletop machine with a robotic arm”, with an “AI assistant with its own personality.” Oh and the Apple intelligence-based Siri we were expecting this year will finally be firing on all cylinders too, according to Gurman’s report (via 9to5Mac)

Seriously though, 2027 is shaping up as Apple’s most important year in a long time. After some recent struggles with regulators, with AI, and a certain stagnation of key products, this hardware revamp sounds exactly what the doctor ordered to put Cupertino back on top.
