Earlier this week, Mark Gurman said that Apple has a “product renaissance” coming in 2027. But we won’t have to wait that long for major new launches, as 2026 is expected to bring three especially exciting product upgrades too. Here’s what’s coming.
iPhone Fold
The iPhone’s “boring” era will end this fall with the new iPhone 17 Air. But next year, an even more compelling model is coming: Apple’s first foldable.
iPhone Fold will be an ultra-premium model that expands the iPhone’s capabilities in a new way.
- 7.8-inch inner display, 5.5-inch outer display
- ~9mm thick when folded, only ~4.5mm unfolded
- Crease-free fold design
- Touch ID integrated into side button
- Priced over $2,000
Essentially, the iPhone Fold will look and feel like a standard iPhone when folded, but offer iPad mini-like utility when unfolded.
These hardware changes will no doubt be accompanied by software upgrades in iOS 20, the likes of which we may get a preview of with iOS 19’s rumored Stage Manager support.
Redesigned MacBook Pro
Apple last redesigned the MacBook Pro back in 2021, bulking up the device and re-adding ports that had previously been removed.
But in 2026, the MacBook Pro is expected to get thinner and lighter again.
Next year’s “total redesign” of the MacBook Pro will pack a variety of very exciting upgrades.
New features expected include:
- OLED display
- Elimination of the notch
- M6 chip line
- cellular support with C2 modem
- thinner, lighter design
- and yes, maybe even touch support
Overall, the new MacBook Pro should easily be the device’s biggest upgrade in years—and possibly ever.
Apple Vision Air
Vision Pro launched last year as a technological triumph with two major drawbacks:
- Price
- Weight
For the vast majority of potential users, Vision Pro is too expensive to even consider buying. And those who have bought it are in near-universal agreement that it’s too heavy.
Apple plans to solve both problems with its next Vision launch.
A new Apple Vision Air product is coming either in late 2025, or more likely, the first half of 2026.
We don’t know yet how Apple plans to offer Vision Air at a lower price. However, rumors indicate it will use titanium to reduce weight, and even come in a new space black finish.
visionOS 3 is also expected to offer significant feature upgrades that will benefit the Vision Air, and perhaps make spatial computing more enticing for all.
Apple’s 2026 products: wrap-up
Apple will have a lot of other products coming in 2026, to be sure. We’ll get new iPhone 18 Pro and Air models, iPad refreshes, new Home products, and more.
But out of everything rumored to launch, the iPhone Fold, MacBook Pro, and Vision Air stand out as the three products set to offer the biggest upgrades.
