Apple’s iPhone SE 3 Could Kill the Home Button Once and For All – Review Geek

Most reports believe the new iPhone SE 3 coming in 2022 would be a rather dull update, sticking with the same small display and TouchID home button as previous models. However, this week a new leak is saying something different, claiming Apple will opt for an iPhone XR-like design with a huge display and ditch the home button for good.

According to the Chinese website MyDrivers, Apple’s next budget iPhone is coming in early 2022 with an all-new look. Contradicting earlier information from famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, MyDrivers believes Apple will reuse the iPhone XR design and 6.1-inch display instead of mirroring the older 2020 design of the iPhone SE 2.

The site mentions a bigger screen, no home button, and Apple will use a side-mounted fingerprint scanner inside the power key, something we’ve never seen from an iPhone. That said, select iPad models have side-mounted fingerprint scanners, so that is one possibility. Then, echoing other rumors, the new 2022 iPhone SE will use an upgraded Apple A15 Bionic processor and support 5G speeds.

However, earlier this year, display analyst Ross Young posted the tweet above, reporting that the 2022 iPhone SE 3 will use the 4.7-inch LCD display again and wait until 2023 to make more significant changes. So we’re getting two entirely different stories here, and we’ll simply have to wait and see.

The next budget iPhone SE could be small and have a physical home button still or ditch that all in favor of a large punch-hole display and side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Stay tuned for more details.
