VR headsets are the new way many people are gaming, especially going into 2023. However, the cost of many of these is going up with each one, which can be expected, but it seems to be going up a great amount. The hardware put into the headsets keeps getting better and more advanced, early ones were heavy and clunky pieces of the console, and a lot required being plugged into a high-end PC. Now everything is coming a long way to have better connections without cables involved, games downloading right onto the headset, and ways to make them feel more balanced. Apple recently announced its own Apple VR headset, and today, we will be talking about its price increase of it.
Apple’s Headset Could Be The Most Expensive VR
Apple is releasing its own VR headset, which will be put into competition with other VR systems like the Vive XR Elite, which comes out next month and will cost $1,099. There’s also the Meta Quest Pro, which launched a couple of months ago and is priced at $1,499. Both the Meta Quest 2, and the PlayStation VR 2 is priced at around $500, depending on your storage size and/or bundle package.
This Apple VR headset is actually a combined augmented reality, which is sometimes referred to as AR, and virtual reality headset. So far it is set to release later this year, probably in September along with the new iPhone and other Apple devices like every year. The operating system is going to be called xrOS, at least say reports. However, this headset will be expensive with a tag price of $3,000…some rumors say it could be less but it is uncertain at this point. If the price does come out to be this high, it would be twice the price of the Meta Quest Pro.
Of course, Apple devices are always top of the line, but we aren’t quite sure how a VR headset of this expensive price will do on the market, especially when some parents might not want to buy their children a $3000 headset for Christmas. Not to mention this is a high price for any headset for any adult as well. We also don’t know what kinda games would be available for the headset, but hopefully, we will learn more before we get closer to its release.
