If you’re experiencing problems with your AirPods Pro, we have good news. Apple just extended the repair program that offers free repairs or replacements for those dealing with crackling noise, static, or problems with noise cancellation.

According to changes to the Apple support page, spotted by MacRumors, Apple will now fix or replace select AirPods Pro models for up to three years from the original date of purchase, instead of only two years. This program arrived in October after the initial 1-year warranty was set to expire, so most owners who bought them in 2019 should be covered until October 2022.

That said, it looks like only select early models may be affected, and any AirPods Pro bought after October 2020 aren’t a part of this extended program.

To be specific, Apple’s document says it may fix the following issues with AirPods Pro:

    • Crackling or static sounds that increase in loud environments, with exercise, or while talking on the phone.

    • Active Noise Cancellation is not working as expected, such as a loss of bass sound, or an increase in background sounds, such as street or airplane noise.

Affected users can return AirPods Pro to Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. After an examination, if they are eligible for the repair program, you’ll likely get a replacement free of charge. You can also make an appointment at an Apple Store to get the ball rolling on a new set of buds.
