The US Patent Trial and Appeal Board declined to review a patent related to digital gaming competition platforms that had already been invalidated by a California federal court in an infringement dispute between Skillz Platform Inc. and AviaGames Inc.
Skillz sued AviaGames last year, alleging its Pocket7Games application and standalone applications such as Bingo Clash, Solitaire Clash, 21 Gold, Explodocube, and Tile Blitz infringed US Patent No. 9,479,602, as well as No. 9,649,564, which focuses on a peer-to-peer wagering platform.
