Battlefield 2042 already dirt cheap with 33% off this Black Friday

Battlefield 2042 is the latest shooter on the block, and with Black Friday savings now live, we’re already seeing our first price cut only days after launch. Walmart has launched all-new video game deals to mark the shopping bonanza, including up to $23 off the new Battlefield entry on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Battlefield 2042 is now available for $47 on all platforms, including Xbox One and PlayStation 4, plus the next-gen copies for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.

The latest installment in the Electronic Arts first-person shooter (FPS) launched on Nov. 19, exploring a near-future conflict, pitched as its “next-gen” vision for the series. The game now supports up to 128-players across some of the largest maps in Battlefield history, coupled with several ambitious new modes. The game has suffered mixed reception, with players facing some day-one bugs, although a solid foundation still makes this $47 a stellar Black Friday steal.

Battlefield 2042 usually retails for $60 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, while Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 copies start at $70. Walmart now has Battlefield 2042’s standard edition listed for $47 on all platforms, translating to savings from $13 to $23.

It’s unclear whether this Black Friday deal is intended, with a flat $47 price, including 33% off the latest Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions. The new store pages also incorrectly list their pre-sale prices at $10 below the usual going rate on all platforms. In the meantime, snag the saving while you can.

Battlefield 2042 delivers an evolution on the series formula, including Conquest, a staple of previous Battlefield games. That’s coupled with a new creative “Battlefield Portal” sandbox and a battle-royale-esque “Hazard Zone” available from day one. The game also shakes up combat with Specialists, new hero-style soldiers, each introducing distinct gadgets and abilities to use in battle.

There are some differences between Battlefield 2042 on next-gen and last-gen consoles. Older Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions have smaller player counts, capped at 64-players in some modes, and don’t support cross-play with next-gen consoles and PC. The Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions deliver the whole experience, usually retailing for $10 more, but you’ll avoid that next-gen tax with this Black Friday price cut.
