Battlefield 2042 Hazard Zone brings tactical action for smaller squads

While Battlefield 2042 is set to launch later this year, Electronic Arts and DICE are at last lifting the veil on Battlefield 2042’s Hazard Zone, a new mode that’s designed to bring the action of Battlefield to a much more tense, squad-based setting. In Hazard Zone, four-player teams compete to recover satellite data from Occupying Forces and then successfully extract. You can check out the official reveal trailer for Hazard Zone below:

Matches of Hazard Zone are composed of 32 players on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC and PS5, while the last-generation consoles are restricted to 24 players. Hazard Zone is playable on any of the seven launch maps included in All-Out Warfare. Planning squads is important, as there’s a big restriction not found in regular multiplayer. Only one of each specialist can be chosen per squad, no groups of four Mackays will be found here.

If teams are able to successfully recover the intel, they’ll have two chances to extract, meaning up to two squads are capable of winning a round. Winning teams are rewarded with Dark Zone Credits, a special currency for Hazard Zone that unlocks new upgrades, such as addition weapon magazines.

Battlefield 2042 is currently set to launch on Nov. 19 for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PC, PS5 and PS4.
