BattlEye anti-cheat launches in Destiny 2 with Season 15, more details coming during Destiny Showcase

Destiny 2 is a lot of things to a lot of players, offering many different ways to play as one of the best Xbox shooter games. However, online multiplayer portions of the game can occasionally be ruined by the presence of unfair cheaters and hackers, which detract from everyone’s experiences. In order to combat this problem, which plagues many online multiplayer games, Destiny 2 is officially partnering with the BattlEye anti-cheat solution.

With the arrival of Season 15, BattlEye will soft launch in the game and begin working to level the playing field for all players, and hopefully massively reduce the cheater problem. We don’t know the details of how BattlEye will be implemented or exactly what a soft launch entails, but Bungie plans to reveal more about their anti-cheat implementation during the Destiny Showcase, where Bungie will also reveal Destiny 2’s next big expansion, The Witch Queen.

While anti-cheat solutions can sometimes be controversial, depending on their execution, they’re a necessary tool to use against cheaters that have no issue ruining the game for other players. Hopefully, Destiny 2’s use of BattlEye will be effective and seamless for players.
