AMD’s Radeon RX 9000 GPUs launched today, March 6, and overwhelming demand has seen stock fly off the shelves.
AMD’s promise of wide availability seems to be somewhat true, as at the time of writing (about 15 minutes after launch), there are still standalone RDNA 4 GPUs available at Newegg.
Newegg is getting hammered with traffic to the point where it’s hard to load a page, so I don’t expect stock to remain around for too long.
This doesn’t exactly come as a surprise. Even the panned NVIDIA RTX 5070 sold out immediately, and by all means, AMD has a superior product with its RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 cards.

There are a few big reasons for buying a pre-built PC. Standalone GPUs usually sell out first, and oftentimes, your only avenue to get the new hardware in a timely manner is via a pre-built system.
You might also not have the time or patience to put together a full system on your own. Having a PC that’s ready to turn on and game as soon as it arrives is certainly appealing.

AMD’s new RDNA 4 GPUs officially launched on March 6 at 9 AM EST. They’re going fast, but at the time of writing about an hour after launch there are still some standalone GPUs available at retailers.
Should you buy a pre-built RX 9000 PC?
Pre-built gaming PCs aren’t for everyone. Personally, I enjoy the process of purchasing individual parts and assembling them on my own, but there are lots of good reasons to pick up something that’s ready to go out of the box.
Lots of pre-built PCs use standard parts rather than proprietary pieces, making future upgrades easier. I’ve tried to include a list of custom PCs that feel more like they were built at home rather than on an assembly line.
Are the RX 9000 GPUs worth buying?
Absolutely. Reviews for the RX 9000 GPUs are a lot more positive than I was expecting, and the fact that I’ve spotted the new cards available for the MSRP put forth by AMD bodes well for the future.
The RX 9070 XT is looking particularly attractive, roughly matching the RTX 5070 Ti’s raw performance at a $150 cheaper MSRP.
NVIDIA continues to hold the ray tracing and AI performance crown, but for PC gamers, the RX 9000 GPUs should be the right choice.
