Prime Day will be here before you know it, now that Amazon has confirmed it is returning to its regular July slot. That means if you’re looking to buy a new iPhone, it’s a smart move to hold out and wait and see what the Prime Day iPhone deals will bring. To help you figure out what to do, we’ve got some insight into when the Prime Day iPhone deals will start, where the best iPhone deals will be, and whether you should buy an iPhone on Prime Day 2022. Read on while we take you through it. By the end of this, you’ll know exactly what to do.

When do the Prime Day iPhone deals start?

Amazon recently confirmed the Prime Day 2022 date and you’re sure to be excited by this. After two years of Prime Day moving around, it is now back in its traditional July slot. Prime Day will occur on July 12 and July 13 this year, giving you the ideal summer satisfaction of a great deal.

Prime Day started back in 2015 to mark Amazon’s birthday. The company was founded in July 1994 so it made sense to always host Prime Day in that same month, as a kind of birthday celebration for everyone to get involved in. Of course, Prime Day is exclusive for Prime members so you need to have a Prime membership to be able to access the deals.

Mostly sticking to its July spot, there have been two notable exceptions. Back in 2020, Prime Day was moved to October due to the COVID-19 pandemic causing supply chain disruption. Also, in 2021, it was moved to June, so this is the first time since 2019 that Prime Day has returned to normal. Amazon has also promised a series of early Prime Day deals in a bid to lure you in for more. We don’t have confirmation yet of what these could involve but they could be iPhone related.

Where are the best Prime Day iPhone deals?

The obvious answer should be Amazon, right? Prime Day iPhone deals aren’t exclusive to Amazon though. While, obviously, the retailer gets the Prime Day name and is likely to have some sweet price cuts on iPhones of various types, usually refurbished models, other retailers will likely get involved, too.

That’s because companies like Walmart and Best Buy appreciate that Prime Day puts everyone in the buying mood, and they’re keen to lure you their way with some deep discounts. That’s why it’s worth checking out iPhone deals at many different retailers to see where the best value lies. That’s also why we’re monitoring the situation to keep you updated on everything that unfolds.

Perhaps weirdly, the only place you probably won’t see amazing Prime Day iPhone deals is via Apple itself. The company rarely gets involved in ‘true’ sales. Instead, it’s more likely to potentially offer a good trade-in offer or some kind of voucher scheme. In terms of straight-up money off, don’t count on going direct to Apple when checking out the Prime Day phone deals.

Should you buy an iPhone on Prime Day 2022?

Knowing if you should buy an iPhone on Prime Day comes down to two things — timing and need. Timing-wise, Prime Day is a great time to treat yourself. Amazon and other retailers are always keen to discount the most popular devices and you can’t get much more desirable than an iPhone. That means you’re likely to see some great iPhone deals around during the Prime Day period. Honestly? Prime Day deals tend to rival Black Friday and Cyber Monday these days which means it’s one of the best times of year to dive in and buy yourself some new items. Sure, you could wait until Black Friday but it’s unlikely that the price will be any lower. Worse, you’ll also have to wait months to find out, plus your finances may be tighter due to holiday spending.

Now you know you’ve picked the right time of year, it’s time to figure out what iPhone to buy. The iPhone 13 Pro tops our list of the best phones right now but that doesn’t strictly mean it’s the right phone for you. The beauty behind the iPhone range is that there’s effectively something for everyone here and every budget, too. Because, yes, even with Prime Day sales in full swing, you still need to think about how much you can afford. The best iPhones tend to cover a wide range of price ranges these days so there should be something here for you.

Once you’ve figured out your budget, your decision-making should be simpler. Basically, the latest iPhone 13 range is the one you almost certainly want to aim for. Within it, there are the iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13, and iPhone 13 Mini. The iPhone 13 Pro Max is the ultimate iPhone right now offering powerful hardware and an exceptional camera. It’s also pretty big to hold, expensive, and can be overkill for many users.

A smarter choice might be the iPhone 13 Pro which is smaller but still very powerful. The same size but lacking a little prowess is the still appealing iPhone 13, while even smaller is the iPhone 13 Mini which is ideal for smaller hands and those who want to be able to use their phones one-handed.

Before you dive in, it’s important to think about what you want your iPhone to do. If you love taking the best photos and money is no object, go for the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Most other users will be content with the iPhone 13 Pro or iPhone 13 though as they’re still suitably speedy and take good photos. There’s always the iPhone 13 Mini if you need a smaller phone though, or even the iPhone SE which harks back to the days when phones fitted in your pocket more easily.

Look out for refurbished deals on the iPhone 12 range too as you could snag yourself a bargain if you don’t mind slightly older technology. Refurbished models tend to still come with a one-year warranty and work just as well, just with older hardware.
