Someone get a restraining order!
Long ago, when I lived in Manhattan, I had a girlfriend named Catherine. But all my buddies called her “Crazy Cat” due to an insecurity, which drove obsessive and jealous behaviour. I have a larger than life presence, and am known to be a highly social animal. In fact, some of my friends jokingly call me “excessively social”.
And that’s ok, But
after her and I became a thing I was startled to learn any woman below the age of 50 was “coming on to me”, when many were friends of mine and had been so for years. In addition to being insecure she was tremendously jealous, and several of my friendships were ruined by one or more of her highly personal and inappropriate outbursts directed towards my female friends. If her and I were out and about and encountered a female friend of mine, in particular a close one, I’d shudder as she moved in for a hug as I could feel green laser beam dagger rays of jealousy burning into me and my friend.
Carefully reviewing and cataloging the physical embrace, watching the placement of hands with intense focus, we’d later review this causal greeting in lengthy sessions where I would learn everything me and my friend had done wrong in Cat’s presence. Over the course of just a few months
and little did I know, my problems were just beginning at that point. Since I’m a very positive person I won’t go recount the details here, decades later, but suffice it to say, I eventually had to get a restraining order, so strong was her — ahem — interest in my whereabouts. When I was home. When I was working. My activities. Who I was spending time with. And what we may or may not be doing or have done behind closed doors. Now if you’re wondering
