Can’t add debit card to Apple Watch

Ok, a little bit of background information.

Because I had – and still have – a problem with the App Store app – it shows that it can’t connect to the App Store – I tried to sign out and sign back in my iCloud account, along with several reboots and resetting network settings.

This, not only did not solve the problem with the App Store, but it removed my card from the Wallet app, the card that I’ve always used with Apple Pay and has always worked flawlessly.

I was able to easily re-add the card to my iPhone and verify the card, but when I try to add it to the Watch I can add the card, but when it prompts me to verify the card, it does open the card’s issuer app – which I had used to verify it on the iPhone – it goes on with the process, the phone shows me the Apple Pay screen where it says that Apple Pay is successfully set up and I can use my smartphone to make payments but, both in the Watch app and on the Watch screen, it keeps saying that the card needs to be verified.

I tried removing and re-adding the card in the Watch app and I even tried unpairing and repairing the Watch with my phone. I tried calling my card’s issuer but they have one of voice recognition systems where you’re supposed to tell a machine your problem to receive a solution, I wasn’t able to talk with anyone from their staff, but, since I was able to do everything on the phone I believe this might be a problem with Apple’s software.

What am I doing wrong?

I’m running watchOS 8.6 on a Apple Watch SE.

Thanks
