A leaked TV advertisement for Google’s upcoming Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL has popped up on the Internet. The ad highlights features such as Gemini AI capabilities, the rear cameras, and the promise of seven years of updates. It also confirms that there will be two sizes afterall; the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL.
The official announcement and release is expected on August 13. The ad was available on YouTube, although it has now been removed for violating the platform’s policies. But here’s what we know so far.Â
Pixel 9 Pro AI Features Â
Google’s Pixel 9 Pro series ad doesn’t reveal much that we don’t already know — thanks to many leaks. But it’s still exciting to watch. Their recently released ad video reveals a previously announced feature called Pixel Screenshots. It’s similar to Microsoft’s Recall feature but more streamlined. What it does is to help you search for and manage saved screenshots with keywords and tags. It makes it easier to find what you need without manually scrolling through your gallery app.
Google is also proud of the Pixel 9 Pro’s camera features, which includes Super Res Zoom Video and Add Me. Super Res Zoom Video is a feature that improves the quality of videos when you zoom in on something. It makes the zoomed-in parts clearer and sharper, so you can see more detail without the video looking blurry. Meanwhile, Add Me lets you take two separate group selfies and combine them into one, so everyone can be in the photo even if someone had to take the picture.
We also learn of the Magic Editor feature that allows you to change or enhance the backgrounds of your photos according to your instructions. For example, if you want a different scene or setting in the background, you can describe what you want, and the editor will adjust the photo to match your prompt. This makes it easy to create customized and visually appealing images.
Seven years of updates and two size options teased
You’ll also be pleased to know that the new phone series will get seven years of updates promised on the Pixel 8 series. At the end of the video, we see the Pixel 9 Pro in two sizes as earlier rumored. The first one is a 6.3 inch device, with the second model at 6.9 inches. Both phones will use Gemini AI. This is the first time Google is offering two Pro models, which should please anyone who prefers a smaller flagship phone.
Color options for the Pixel 9 Pro include Obsidian, Porcelain, Hazel, and Rose. Several leaks also show the Pixel 9 Pro XL in the Obsidian color. But there are rumors that it’s a non-working prototype. We’ll finally know for sure on August 13 when both phones launch during the Made by Google event.
