Choose What You Watch With DirecTV’s New Genre Pack Plans

Yet another TV provider realizes that people don’t want to pay for channels they’ll never watch. DirecTV has introduced Genre Packs that are more affordable and customizable. You can now skip unnecessary subscription bundles, and play content tailored to your interests. From $35 monthly add or remove shows from MyEntertainment, MyNews, and MiEspañol packages.

DirecTV wants you to choose what you watch

DirecTV is a satellite television service provider that provides live, on-demand, and streaming content options. The company has been a major player in the pay-TV industry for years. But with more people switching to streaming, it has recently adapted to be more flexible.

At DirecTV, we’re breaking up with the one-size-fits-all bloated cable bundles of the past by delivering new ways for consumers to enjoy the content they love at the best value. Our new Genre Packs and Mini-Packs provide lower-priced options, allowing customers to pick and choose what they want to watch and when they want to watch it.

For years, entertainment providers forced customers into expensive bundles crammed with channels they didn’t want. They’ve also started a recent practice of increasing prices while introducing ad-supported tiers and cracking down on password sharing. Netflix is guilty of it on multiple occasions. In January 2025, they’ve already hiked their prices with up to $3 monthly increase for the ad-free Standard plan.

These issues are exactly what DirecTV’s new Genre Packs try to solve. You cut out filler channels, and pick what resonates best with you. If you just want current affairs, you can grab MyNews for $40 and view CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, and Newsmax. If you want entertainment, there’s a collection for that as well.
