Chub Cay: The Bitcoin Citadel

Miami, Florida, Aug. 17, 2023Chub Cay, a private island in the Bahamas, is quickly becoming a Bitcoin (BTC) haven. The island, which is known for its world-class fishing and beautiful beaches, has made headlines in recent months for its embrace of Bitcoin.

In 2021, Chub Cay installed two Bitcoin ATMs on the island. The ATMs allow guests to buy and sell Bitcoin with dollars. Chub Cay also became the first island in the Bahamas to accept Bitcoin as payment for accommodations and other services.

In 2023, Chub Cay took its Bitcoin adoption to the next level by launching a membership program that uses Ordinal nonfungible tokens (NFTs). The membership program allows guests to purchase or rent a limited-edition NFT that grants them access to the island’s amenities, such as the marina, the clubhouse and the beach. The NFTs are also inscribed on the Bitcoin blockchain, which makes them tamper-proof and secure. General manager David Renaud explains the grander vision.

“We are committed to providing our guests with the best possible experience,” said Renaud. “That includes making it easy for them to get what they need, when they need it. Our growing digital network will do just that.”

The membership program has been a huge success, and Chub Cay now plans to auction off 150 of the 200 NFTs on Aug. 18. The auction will be hosted by Luxor Technology, the team that previously hosted the very successful DeGods auction. The price for each NFT will be 0.29 BTC.

Their most recent addition is causing quite a stir in the NFT space. With the assistance of a customized mobile app, Chub Cay, developed by Node Inc., guests can purchase or rent memberships in order to access the club’s amenities and receive discounts on bookings. The bonus catch is that the limited 1-of-1 hand drawn art pieces are inscribed and stored on Bitcoin as Ordinals. Guests who are less technologically inclined have the option for Chub Cay to internally custody, while others can test their skills — and the open markets — with self-custody. This progressive membership move makes an already ultra exclusive island experience even more exclusive and rewarding.

Sky Dauth of Node expects that “many luxury companies in the hospitality industry will look to Chub as a blueprint in order to compete in the rapidly expanding digital economy.”

Chub Cay’s embrace of Bitcoin has made it a popular destination for Bitcoin enthusiasts from all over the world. The island is now seen as a leading example of how Bitcoin can be used to improve the hospitality industry.

Here are some of the benefits of Chub Cay’s Bitcoin membership program:

  • Exclusive access to the island’s amenities.
  • Discounts on accommodations and other services.
  • Passive rental income.
  • Tamper-proof and secure NFTs.
  • The ability to participate in the Bitcoin economy.

If you’re looking for a luxurious and exclusive Bitcoin experience, then Chub Cay is the perfect place for you.

The auction starts at 5 pm EDT Aug. 18, 2023.
