Color-Changing Realme 14 Pro Series Lands with AI-Powered Camera

It’s 2025, and even with no intentions to get a Realme device yourself, it’d be a mistake to ignore what the company does. It offers one of the best balances between price and performance that you can get at the moment, and it explains why the company proudly touts that it’s the “world’s fastest-growing smartphone brand”. Sounds about right.

Today, the Realme 14 Pro series, comprising the 14 Pro and 14 Pro+, has become official. The company unveiled the phones some weeks back, showing off a pretty novel color-changing quirk, but today, the devices have actually been released and we know everything there is to know about them, so let’s dive in.

The Realme 14 Pro Series Delivers a Design More Premium Than Its Price

The moment you take a look at the Realme 14 Pro and 14 Pro+, especially in the particularly unique Pearl White colorway, you see phones that look a lot more premium than their peri-$300 price tag would suggest. Realme is no stranger to delivering plenty of bang for the buck though.

The devices are distinct enough that choosing between them should be much easier. Let’s examine what they offer.

The Design

One of the best things about the latest smartphones from Realme is their design. Fortunately, you don’t compromise on the aesthetic, whether you choose the 14 Pro or 14 Pro+. Both devices opt for sharply rounded corners and IP68/IP69 and MIL-STD-810H certifications. They look pretty, but they’re rugged.

The 14 Pro curves its display on the left and right edges and does the same with the back panel. The 14 Pro+ has a mostly flat back and front, though the glass curves sharply at the very edge. If you’re not a fan of glass backs, the Suede Gray colorway brings in “vegan suede leather”.

Of course, we can’t talk about the 14 Pro series without talking about the Pearl White colorway. It has a very unique texture and finish, imbued with organic seashell powder, which when exposed to temperatures lower than 16°C, turns that Pearl White color into a blue. Genuinely, I haven’t seen anything quite like it on a smartphone. The fact that each unit’s pattern is different from the next doesn’t hurt the appeal.

The Screens

The displays for the Realme 14 Pro series are as different as can be. The 14 Pro model opts for a 6.77-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The 14 Pro+ is bigger, at 6.83 inches, and with that comes a higher resolution, at 1.5K. Oddly, in high-brightness mode, the entire screen of the Realme 14 Pro gets brighter than the Pro+ model—1,400 nits vs 1,200 nits respectively.

The Internal Hardware

Inside, the 14 Pro goes for MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300 Energy while the 14 Pro+ sticks to the magic of Qualcomm, opting for the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. Solid midrange chips, as expected. With what Realme says is the largest vapor chamber in the segment, you shouldn’t have too many problems with overheating during gaming sessions.

The Realme 14 Pro can be specced up to 12/256GB while the Pro+ has an option for 12/512GB. Both devices share an 8/128GB base model.

The Batteries and Charging

Both devices have a large 6,000mAh battery, but unsurprisingly the Pro+ model gets the faster 80W wired charging. The 14 Pro makes do with 45W charging, which is hardly something to be disappointed with, especially at this price point. There’s no wireless charging on either model.

The Cameras

The cameras are one aspect of the product that Realme puts a lot of weight on—though which manufacturer doesn’t these days?

Both phones carry a 50MP primary camera, though the 14 Pro uses a Sony IMX882 while the 14 Pro+ goes for the superior IMX896. The 14 Pro only has a 2MP depth sensor by its side, but the 14 Pro+ gets a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto and an 8MP ultrawide. The 14 Pro+’s superiority continues with the selfie camera as it gets a higher-resolution 32MP unit as opposed to 16MP on the smaller model.

Realme wouldn’t its MagicGlow triple flash to go unmentioned. The OEM claims you’ll be able to use the triple flash as a professional-grade light fill to illuminate the scene in a very natural fashion, keeping portraits looking great, even at night.

You also get Realme’s “AI Ultra Clarity 2.0”, which makes blurry photos more usable, whether they were taken with the phone or not. The results are, well, passable.

The Pricing and Availability
