Corsair Nailed Comfort for Longer Gaming Sessions
I’ve used many gaming headsets over the years. Some are comfortable for longer gaming sessions, and some aren’t. Thankfully, Corsair nailed comfort with the Void Wireless V2.
I wear glasses, and because of that, some headsets just don’t sit right on my face. Not only does the Void Wireless V2 handle my glasses fine, but it also stays cool while gaming. This is something that even my beloved SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless couldn’t achieve.
I’ve used the Void Wireless V2 for several hours of gaming at a time, and it really felt like I wasn’t wearing it. This isn’t something many headsets can achieve, so I was honestly pretty surprised. Even my AirPods Max couldn’t do this.
Now, the headset isn’t super light, but just well-balanced. I weighed the Void Wireless V2’s in at 10.44oz (296g), which is a good bit lighter than the Arctis Pro Wireless I was using at 12.59oz (357g). In fact, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro weighs in at 11.96oz (339g), which is still 1.52oz (43g) heavier.
Overall, I’m extremely happy with how the Void Wireless V2 fits and feels on my head.
The Microphone Is Great at Cutting Through Outside Noise
My office isn’t a quiet place. I have multiple servers going, a fan on to help keep it cool, and my door is always open. All the noise can typically be picked up by most gaming headsets I’ve used, and only higher-end condenser microphones are able to block it out.
I did several video calls and gaming sessions with others using the Void Wireless V2, and nobody could hear any of the ambient noise that was being produced in the room. During one video call, the person on the other end was shocked that the mic I was using was built into the headset because of how clear it was.
Now, I wouldn’t necessarily sell your USB or XLR condenser microphone and switch to the Void Wireless V2’s mic for voiceovers and podcasting. However, when gaming or when on a video call, it sounds pretty great so there’s not much to complain about there.
Long Battery Life, Perfect for Going All Week Without Charging
Coming from the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless, which has two swappable batteries, I was a bit leery about not being able to change out the battery mid-game. I’ll say that was never actually a worry with the Void Wireless V2.
With a claim of 70 hours of battery life per charge, I’d be willing to bet it lives up to that. It’s hard for me to accurately test exactly how many hours I’ve squeezed out of the headset, but I’ve used it for multiple days of several hours of gaming or video calls, and it’s still got plenty of charge left.
I have, once or twice, plugged it in via the USB-C port in order to top it off. With how great the battery life seems to be, I think if you plug it in once a week with ultra-heavy usage, you’re fine. If you only use it occasionally, then you could easily go multiple weeks or even months between charges.
I’ve also been using the headset via the 2.4GHz dongle and not Bluetooth. It’s nice that it has both options, but I always feel that a 2.4GHz dongle is more reliable than Bluetooth in my office. However, I do wish that the dongle would have been USB-C and not USB-A.
The one thing I’d recommend is to turn off the RGB. I know, I know. But, the RGB does take away from the battery, and it’s only two tiny strips at the front of the headset (and you can’t even see it when you’re wearing the headset)..
Should You Buy the Corsair Void Wireless V2 Gaming Headset?
The Corsair Void Wireless V2 Gaming Headset isn’t cheap at $120. However, I think it offers great value. As someone who’s been using a $300 headset for the past few years, I have zero qualms about switching over to the Void Wireless V2 full-time.
The drivers sound fantastic when gaming, the mic has great noise cancellation, and the fit is extremely comfortable. If you’re in the market for a mid-range gaming headset, I really don’t think you can go wrong with the Void Wireless V2.
