YAKIMA, Wash. – The Central Washington University cross country team started their season on Saturday, Sept. 10, with the CWU Invitational at the Apple Ridge Course.
The men’s team placed 2nd while the women’s team placed 3rd. The men ran a 6K, while the women ran a 4K.
The top runner on the men’s side for the Wildcats was Ty Savely, who clocked in at 19:47.3, good for a 10th place finish. He improved on his time of 20:19.8 from his run last year in the invitational.
The next Wildcat finisher was Zack Sundt, who finished with a time of 20:15.6. Shawn Clough ran a time of 20:21.5.
Leading the women’s team, Rosie Melville clocked in at 16:29.8, good for a 12th place finish.
Zoie Mastin finished next for the Wildcats, clocking in a time of 16:58.2. The third Wildcat finisher was Olivia Wyatt, with a time of 17:43.4.
The Crimson and Black will be back in Action on Sept. 24 in Ferndale, Wash. at Western Washington University.
