If you’re looking for some of the best Destiny 2 Exotic weapons and armor, one of the best bets to get it is to buy Exotics from the mysterious vendor Xur that comes to the game every Friday at 1 PM ET and leaves the following Tuesday at the same time. Every weekend, Xur sells an Exotic weapon, an Exotic armor piece for each class, and a special Fated Engram that’s guaranteed to give you an Exotic you don’t currently own (Exotics tied to quests or raids can’t drop from these). The weapons and armors generally cost 20-25 Legendary Shards, while the Fated Engram costs 97 Legendary Shards. You can only buy one Fated Engram each week and the Fated Engram gives armor based on the class you’re playing when you buy it, so think carefully about which character you’re using to buy from Xur.
If you want to open more than one Fated Engram with Xur, you’ll need to take the Exotic Cipher quest he offers and complete its objective. This will reward you with an Exotic Cipher that can be used to get another Exotic from Xur. You can also use the Exotic Cipher as a currency at the Monument to Lost Lights kiosk in The Tower that allows you to obtain Exotics from content that has been put into the Destiny Content Vault.
Xur’s location changes every weekend, so players will need to find him in order to browse his Exotic wares. We’re not sure where he’ll be this week yet since he hasn’t arrived, but we’ll update this article with a map and explanation when we know more.
Xur’s inventory also rotates weekly, allowing players to obtain several Exotics they may not have already. These Exotics also come with high stat rolls that are useful when crafting some of the best Destiny 2 builds. We’re not sure what Xur is selling since he hasn’t arrived yet, but we’ll update this article when we know more.
