As previous rumors predicted, the OnePlus Open will make its global debut on October 19th at a launch event being held in Mumbai, India. Also as predicted, the OnePlus Open and Oppo Find N3 will be two takes of the same hardware, with OxygenOS present on the former and ColorOS on the latter. This means that while the Open is the first OnePlus foldable it’s actually benefitting from third-generation knowledge thanks to Oppo’s previous Find N foldables.
“Kinder Liu, President and COO of OnePlus said “Inheriting OnePlus’s signature fast and smooth experience, plus its elegant, lightweight, and slim design, alongside an imperceptible screen crease, unprecedented imaging performance, efficient software, and premium quality, the OnePlus Open will redefine the concept of foldable smartphones by delivering all-round flagship-level experiences that push the limits of current foldable smartphones and take the standard of foldables to the next level.”
As you can seen from the teaser image given to TalkAndroid, the OnePlus Open appears to be quite thin, sporting the alert slider and a pair of antenna breaks on the side of the device.
Thanks to a significant leak from Roland Quandt at WinFuture, we know that the OnePlus Open will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with up to 16GB of memory. It’s claimed that the cover OLED display will be 6.31-inches in size with the internal OLED panel offering 7.8-inches of real estate.
The leak goes on to say that the Open will feature a pair of 48MP sensors on wide and ultra-wide duty, with a 64MP telephoto sensor capable of 3x optical zoom, all housed in a circular camera housing on the rear of the handset and tuned by Hasselblad.
Finally, it’s believed that the OnePlus Open will be competitively priced – possibly undercutting the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Google’s Pixel Fold. Are you excited about the OnePlus Open? Let us know in the comments below.
