Dizo Watch R Talk offers plenty of fitness features at a not-so-premium price but is the smartwatch really worth it? Find out in our review.
Choosing a good smartwatch to buy under Rs. 5000 is a difficult task as the wearables market is flooded with smartwatches offering similar features at competitive prices. Recently launched smartwatches like the boAt Watch Primia and the Realme Watch 3 Pro are offering not only a host of fitness features but also the capability of Bluetooth calling from the watch itself. These smartwatches have created a healthy competition in the already vast sub-5K wearables segment.
Dizo has recently launched two smartwatches, Dizo Watch R Talk and Dizo Watch D Talk, under Rs. 5000. The Dizo Watch R Talk has been launched at an introductory price tag of Rs. 3,799, after which the price will rise to Rs. 4,999. Dizo has promised features such as Bluetooth calling, 150+ watch faces, 110+ sport modes and more. But does the Dizo Watch R Talk live up to its price tag? Here’s how the watch performed after nearly a week of usage.
Dizo Watch R Talk: Display and Design
The phrase goes like “First impression is the last impression”. It certainly is true in this case as I was impressed with the premium bezel-less look of the smartwatch. The smartwatch has a premium silver-metallic finish and a black dial with two physical buttons, offering a great balance of premium feel and good functionality even at this price point. Dizo Watch R Talk is available in two colour options – Silver Grey and Classic Black. I received the grey variant of the smartwatch featuring silver-metallic dial and grey silicon straps. Dizo has also claimed that a green coloured variant of the smartwatch will be available in the markets later.
The Dizo Watch R Talk has a 1.3-inch AMOLED display with a pixel density of 392 PPI. The display looks crisp with no visible pixelation. The display packs 500 nits of peak brightness on paper and in my experience, the display remained bright even outdoors at noon. The AMOLED display really works wonders here, providing a vibrant and excellent viewing experience. The always-on display works as expected.
The Watch comes with a single silicon strap which is comfortable to wear, although sweaty workout sessions might cause a little irritation. Dizo Watch R Talk weighs 61g on paper (without the strap) although you don’t feel the weight because of the excellent build quality.
Dizo Watch R Talk: Health and Fitness features
Dizo has provided 120+ sport modes for activity tracking such as mountaineering, cricket, elliptical trainer, yoga and more but unless you do any of these activities specifically, most of these won’t be used. The watch offers heart rate tracking which I tested and the results were very accurate and at par with premium smartwatches such as the Galaxy Watch 5. I didn’t get a chance to test the SpO2 tracking against medical-grade devices. The watch has an excellent UI which impressively did not lag even once during my use.
One glaring miss is the lack of a GPS feature which could improve the health and fitness features even more. The sleep tracking feature was a bit dubious during initial testing as it counted sleeping hours while riding the metro, although it corrected itself later on. You can access most of these features from the watch itself, although the Dizo app has to be downloaded to set up the watch initially.
In terms of customization, Dizo has provided more than 150+ watch faces which can be downloaded via the app. The varied catalogue of watch faces offers plenty of options to set up the watch to your liking.
Dizo Watch R Talk: Bluetooth Calling
One of the factors which make Dizo Watch R Talk smartwatch stand out from the competition in its segment is the capability to make and reject calls from the watch itself, which only a handful of smartwatches provide in this price bracket. The speaker is located at the back-edge where the strap is connected. You also get the option for music playback from the watch itself.
In my experience, the call quality was decent without any distortion due to the noise cancellation feature. However, the watch could’ve done better with a bigger speaker and higher volume. In short, the Dizo Watch R Talk won’t be replacing your mobile phone for primary calling anytime soon.
Dizo Watch R Talk: Battery
Dizo Watch R Talk packs a 260mAh battery and the company claims 10 days of battery life without calling and 2 days with calling. The watch lasted nearly 7 and a half days without calling in my experience with normal usage, which included a daily commute as well as a little exercise.
Dizo Watch R Talk: Verdict
The Dizo Watch R Talk offers great features and functionality at its introductory price of Rs. 3,799. The smartwatch’s smooth UI and Bluetooth calling are some of its strongest points, although the lack of GPS tracking was disappointing.
If you’re looking to buy a smartwatch under the Rs. 5000 bracket, then the Dizo Watch R Talk is one of the best options you can go for right now. The smartwatch offers premium design, easy to use and smooth UI, a variety of watch faces and fairly accurate fitness trackers. You get more than decent battery life as well.
