DJI has launched the Mavic 3 Classic, a slightly more affordable version of the original Mavic 3, only now it doesn’t have a telephoto lens. You’ll still get all of its best features while being easier on your wallet.
The drone company has been rather busy here in 2022, releasing a budget-friendly Mini 3 Pro with a portrait camera and now this “Classic” version of the Mavic 3. Keep in mind that this is still an expensive piece of aerial camera equipment. It’s just not $1,900 like the original Mavic 3 from last year.
With the all-new Mavic 3 Classic, you won’t have the second telephoto lens for close-up shots, but it still packs the same primary 4/3 CMOS 20-megapixel Hasselblad camera as prior models. This means it’ll still take stunning photos and videos. The Classic has the same 03+ transmission system for pilots, a 9.3-mile range, 46-minute flight times, shoots 5.1k video, 4K at 60 FPS, and has a starting price of $1,469.
As we said above, this is still an expensive device. The $1,469 price is for the drone only and is likely geared toward those who already own DJI products. It’ll bump to $1,599 if you need the standard kit with DJI’s remote control.
Then, those who are just getting started and know they’ll need more battery power and options can buy the original Mavic 3 Fly More combo. This gets you two extra batteries, a 100W multi-battery charging hub, three additional propeller sets, a car charger, and a carry case, all for another $649. Doing the math, this puts the Mavic 3 Classic beyond $2,000.
The new DJI Mavic 3 Classic is still a high-end drone with a big price tag but it also has a lot to offer. Beginners or enthusiasts will likely want to start with something like the $700 Mini Pro 3 but to each their own.
The Mavic 3 Classic is available from the DJI Store and authorized retailers today.
