EAST LIVERPOOL — Peter Leida of the Insight Group Thursday gave the East Liverpool school board a synopsis of the educational consulting group’s review report from a review of the district held in the spring in conjunction with the Ohio Department of Education.
Leida noted that Superintendent Jonathan Ludwig was provided with a full copy of the report which listed recommendations focusing on the district’s bright spots and areas where the district has room for growth.
Ludwig noted via Zoom that the review was timely in its completion as the district will be able to make goals that align with both the review and the district’s recently released state report card,.
Following Leida’s Zoom presentation, the board moved onto approving finances and personnel.
The board approved the financial reports along with appropriations and an amended certificate. The financial reports included the cash summary and cash received report for Oct. 2023, the disbursement and receipt report for Oct. 2023 and certificate and final appropriations.
Also approved were the treasurer’s request for the submission of the November Five Year Forecast, to purchase furniture for Westgate classrooms including new desks and chairs, the establishment of the Spanish Club account for the high school and the purchase of warranties for the new buses.
Under personnel, the board approved the resignations of Nicole Carroll, crossing guard, and Phillip Davis, STEM.
Approved for hire for classified appointment was Kristy Collins, two-hour food service staff at LaCroft at a rate of $13.77 per hour, and part-time personnel as tech interns Jaden Kerr and Dawson Wiley, both at $12 an hour.
William Smith was approved as swim team volunteer.
Salary adjustments were approved for Cassie Moore, who will now be paid $57,055.22 annually, and Megan Frederick, who will now make $61,016.08 annually. Both pay adjustments are for completing master’s degrees and will go into effect Jan. 16. Jennifer Bowyer’s salary is being adjusted for reaching 10-year equivalent with transcripts reflecting 21 hours; her approved salary will be $56,866.61 annually and be retroactive for the 2023-24 school year.
The board also approved a student trip to France since all the urgent details have been solidified to properly fundraise.
The East Liverpool Board of Education meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at the district’s Administration Building. The next regular meeting will however be held on Dec. 14 due to the Christmas holiday.
