Elden Ring shows off its Confessor and Samurai classes ahead of launch

Bandai Namco and developer FromSoftware have recently begun showing off many of Elden Ring’s classes, and that pattern continues with the recently-unveiled Confessor and Samurai classes. The Confessor is “a church spy adept at covert operations. Equally adept with a sword as they are with their incantations,” while the Samurai is “a capable fighter from the distant Land of Reeds. Handy with katana and longbows.”

Based on these descriptions, it sounds like the Confessor will be ideal for players that want to create a hybrid character that uses both Strength or Dexterity as well as Faith (the stat that governs the power of incantation spells), while the Samurai is built from the ground up to be a Dexterity-focused class that will be most effective with Dexterity-based weapons like katanas, daggers, and longbows.

Elden Ring’s class list has now grown quite large, with the Confessor and Samurai joining the Bloody Wolf, Champion, Prophet, Enchanted Knight, Warrior, Vagabond, Hero, Prisoner, Bandit, Astrologer, and Wretched. Out of all of FromSoftware’s games, Elden Ring has the highest number of classes by a longshot. This will give new players tons of different options to choose from when creating a character, which is always a good thing.

Elden Ring is expected to release Feb. 25, 2022 on Xbox Series X, Xbox One systems, PS5, PS4, and PC. Elden Ring preorders are available now if you’d like to purchase your copy of the game before it arrives.
