Elgato launches Facecam Pro with 4K resolution at 60 frames per second

What you need to know

  • Elgato just launched the Facecam Pro, which can stream and record with 4K resolution at 60 frames per second.
  • The Facecam Pro retails for $300 and is available starting today.
  • There is no built-in microphone on the Facecam Pro, so you’ll have to have a separate mic for streaming or recording.

Elgato just unveiled the Facecam Pro, a high-end webcam that can record in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. As the sequel to the original Facecam, the Facecam Pro improves on its predecessor in several areas. For example, it has an f/2.0 aperture compared to the original Facecam’s f/2.4.

The Facecam Pro is available for purchase for a penny under $300. With that high price tag comes premium features, such as exposure metering, manual and automatic exposure, tone curve mapping, and more. The camera has a 21 mm (0.83 in) focal length and other premium specs that you’d expect from a device in its price range.
