As always, Eve is doing an amazing job keeping its products up to date. The third-gen Eve Light Switch, which is available today for $50, is Matter-ready and adds support for Thread networking. It also supports three-way switches—thank goodness.

The Eve Light Switch eliminates the need for smart bulbs, effectively adding smart lighting controls to an entire room. You can use it like a regular light switch, or control it through schedules, automations, or Siri voice commands.

Matter compatibility, which arrives in a future update, will greatly expand Eve Smart Light’s usability. As you may know, Matter is a universal smart home standard that breaks down the walls between brands. It’s like a universal translator for your smart home—Eve products won’t be relegated to HomeKit environments after the Matter update rolls out.

Additionally, the new Eve Smart Light doubles as a Thread border router. That’s a fancy way of saying that it expands the range and increases the response time of your smart home, provided that you own an Apple HomePod or another Thread router.

Eve’s third-gen Light Switch is available today at Amazon and the Eve webstore. It costs $50, which is a bargain when compared to a pack of smart bulbs.
