Cincinnati Bengals cornerback and former Giants first-round pick Eli Apple is on his revenge tour, trying to tell anybody who is within earshot of how much he is enjoying the Bengals’ current run, one that has led them to Super Bowl LVI.
Before Apple wound up in Cincinnati, he bounced around to different teams, eventually playing for the Carolina Panthers. However, one Panthers reporter said Apple was told his professional career was over after Carolina released him.

Sheena Quick, a Panthers beat writer for Fox Sports Radio 1340 AM, reported that Panthers head coach Matt Rhule told Apple that he would never play with another team in the NFL after the team let Apple go last season.
Apple only played in two games for the Panthers, collecting four tackles in the process. Apple would remain in the league, eventually signing with the Bengals before the 2021 season. While in Cincinnati, Apple had a career resurgence, getting two interceptions in the 16 games he has suited up for the Bengals.
Apple has played in critical situations during the Bengals’ Super Bowl run. Apple deflected a pass in the Divisional Round matchup against the Tennessee Titans that led to an interception, helping the Bengals advance to the AFC championship game.
Apple played a pivotal role once again late in the second quarter of last Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs, stopping Tyreek Hill short of the goal line, allowing the clock to expire, and preventing the Chiefs from scoring points before halftime.
Apple will look to help the Bengals look to earn their first world championship Sunday, Feb. 13 against the Los Angeles Rams.
