Since it’s the same day that the tragic nuclear Great War began in the timeline of the Fallout universe, October 23 is widely recognized as “Fallout Day” by the series’ fans. The occasion is typically celebrated with reveals or details about upcoming projects in the franchise, and this year, fans were treated to an official release date announcement for the Fallout Amazon Prime TV show. Traditionally, there’s also a Fallout Day Sale that brings heavy discounts for all of the Fallout games — and now that 2023’s is live, we’re happy to report that it’s the best one we’ve ever seen.
From now until the end of October, every single Fallout title is on sale for the lowest prices we’ve ever seen them go for on both Xbox and PC. If you’re interested in picking one or more of them up, you can use the list of deals below to find the game you’re looking for. Note that while the best prices are available from GreenManGaming, discounts at other retailers like the Xbox store are nearly just as good.
The full suite of discounted games includes both of the classic Fallout and Fallout 2 CRPGs from Interplay Entertainment, its strategy spinoff Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel, Obsidian Entertainment’s Fallout: New Vegas, and Bethesda’s Fallout 3, Fallout 4, Fallout 4 VR, and Fallout: 76.
Something to keep in mind is that while Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4, and Fallout: 76 are playable on both console and PC, Interplay’s games and Fallout 4 VR are exclusive to PC. The GOTY/Ultimate Editions of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas that include all their DLC also aren’t available from the Xbox store, so you’ll need to buy the DLC after getting the base game (don’t worry; it’s significantly discounted as well).
Alternatively, you could play all of these games through Xbox Game Pass, as they’re all included in Microsoft’s buffet-style subscription service. You’ll need PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate to access Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics, though.
All of these games are great in their own ways — yes, even Fallout 76 — but if I had to recommend just one, it would be New Vegas. Even though the combat mechanics are a bit dated, Obsidian’s masterful writing and stellar RPG design make it one of the best Xbox games and best PC games I’ve ever played. Fallout 4 is also a great option if you want a more modern gameplay experience, especially if you enhance it with some of the best Fallout 4 mods.
