The arrival of an expansion to a long-running MMORPG is always a time of excitement and anticipation, and that rings true for Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker. This expansion will feature new locations to explore, new dungeons and raids to battle in, new mounts to obtain, and new races to roleplay as. However, the most anticipated addition is the changes to player Jobs. These range from simple quality-of-life improvements to drastic reworks which completely change how they played from previous expansions.
On Sept. 18, 2021, Square Enix broadcasted a Letter from the Producer livestream that previewed these changes along with a Job Action trailer. Then later in October 2021, Square Enix invited players to test out these changes in the Endwalker Media Tour, and showcase more detailed descriptions to the public over the course of the month. So, we have compiled all the changes announced during the livestream and EndwalkerMedia Tour, to help you prepare when the latest expansion for one of the best multiplayer games on PC launches on Dec. 7, 2021.
Keep in mind these changes and reworks taken from the Media Tour are from a development build of the game. This means that when the full version of Endwalker launches, these new abilities and reworks are subject to major rebalancing tweaks in the final build. We will update this article accordingly if such changes occur.
- At Lv. 88, Deployment Tactics’ recast timer gets reduced to 90 seconds thanks to the Enhanced Deployment Tactics Trait.
- At Lv. 90, the Scholar learns the Expedient ability which grants the Expedience and Desperate Measures buffs to all nearby party members for 20 seconds. Expedience boosts movement speed and Desperate Measures reduces incoming damage by 10%.
What Job changes are you most excited for?
As you can see, there are a lot of changes to adapt to for your favorite Job in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker. The Job changes that intrigue me the most would be the rework to Summoners. Being able to call summon and command the true forms of Ifrit, Titan, and Garuda on top of Demi-Bahamut and Demi-Phoenix looks and sounds truly epic. And it makes the Job’s gameplay feel more faithful to the classic Summoner Class from previous Final Fantasy titles.
